About What We Have Always Been: Workshop
"What We Have Always Been" is an exhibition of original artworks created in Central Australia by local Artist Tamara Burlando.
This solo exhibition contains portraits of female Aboriginal artists who live in Papunya community, and are part of an important support network for their own families.
The works celebrate the colours of the desert, and connect the "first contact" history of the introduction of goods like tea, (and flour, sugar and canned meat), with their later important re-appropriation of these basic supplies as significant cornerstones of contemporary Aboriginal culture and daily ceremony.
