It's that time of the year again where Darwin holds the biggest Queen's Birthday long weekend bash.
Summer Session returns in 2017 for the 8th consecutive year, and it's heading back to the beach where it all began.
This year Summer Session will be held in the new purpose built festival/concert/event space
“THE BOATYARD” which is located on Vesteys Beach next to the Darwin Ski Club.
Summer Session 2017 will run from 2pm to midnight, with a diverse selection of music and entertainment tailored to provide you with a fantastic pumping beach festival experience.

We love a great afternoon session and what better way to spend a Saturday afternoon but beachside with an ice cold beer or cider listening to some quality tunes plus a live performance from Aussie Headliners “KINGSWOOD”
KINGSWOOD
Powerhouse rockers KINGSWOOD spent the earlier part of 2016 bunkered down recording the follow up to their ARIA #6 and ARIA nominated 2014 debut Microscopic Wars at the legendary Sound Emporium in Nashville, USA. The first offering from these recordings is their commanding new single 'Creepin''. The track premiered via the airwaves on triple j and was added straight to the triple j playlist and has gained close to 200,000 streams online. Good bands follow the path in front of them, but the great ones forge their own trail. With their new album, After Hours, Close To Dawn, KINGSWOOD prove they're part of the latter's rich, rare lineage: risk-takers who refuse to acknowledge the easy boundaries that demarcate popular music. Ticketing and entry conditions:
- ¹ Boatyard Gold Pass ticket includes 4 free drinks, private area with bar, private bathroom facilities and comfy furniture.
- This is an 18+ event. Please ensure all attendees bring ID for presentation at the gate.
- Every person over 18 years old must have a valid ticket for admission.
- Carers accompanying a disabled or restricted mobility person will be admitted free in the company of the ticket holding person they are caring for. This is valid for one carer per person.
- Only the first scan of each ticket will allow entry to the festival. Duplicate ticket holders will be refused entry to the festival.
- Every person entering the event will receive a wristband. If this wristband is removed for any reason you will be asked to leave or purchase another wristband
What items can’t be brought into this event.
- Alcohol, non alcoholic drinks – this includes juice, soft drinks, sports drinks. Summer Session is a licensed event and alcohol and a large variety of non alcoholic beverages are available for purchase.
- There is a vast array of food available at the event, therefore no outside food will be permitted.

When is SUMMER SESSION 2017?
Summer Session will be held on Saturday 10thJune 2017.
Where is SUMMER SESSION held?
This year Summer Session 2017 will be held in the new purpose built festival/concert/event space “THE BOATYARD” which is located on Vesteys Beach next to the Darwin Ski Club.
What time do the gates open?
Summer Session runs from Midday to Midnight.
Is SUMMER SESSION an “All Ages Event”?
No. Summer Session is only open to over 18 years old’s with a valid form of identification. A Drivers license, passport or proof of age card must be provided by all persons wishing to enter.
No minors will be admitted into the event.
Why do I have to wear a wristband?
Everyone entering Summer Session will be issued a wristband at entry. Your wristband is your “passport” to Summer Session and it is required that you wear it at all times within the venue. Anyone without a wristband will be removed from the venue and will be required to go through the entry process including bag check, security check and payment of entry fee to re-enter.
N.B. If we believe that you removed your wristband for dishonest or fraudulent reasons you will not be readmitted under any terms.
Can I get a full or partial refund after I have purchased my ticket?
No, there will be no full or partial refunds on purchased tickets. If you are asked to leave Summer Session for any reason or you choose to leave for any reason you will not be entitled to a refund.
Can I drink alcohol at SUMMER SESSION?
Yes, a wide variety of alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase, including Light and Mid-Strength drinks. Each time you visit the bar you will be checked for your wristband. Make sure to bring photographic ID to ensure that you are admitted to the venue and the bar.
Can I buy food at SUMMER SESSION?
There will be food stalls available at the event with a wide variety available including vegetarian options.
Can I bring food or drinks into SUMMER SESSION?
No food or drinks may be bought in to the event and bag searches will apply on entry.
Will there be free water available?
Water bubblers are available to fill up your water bottles. Water will be sold at reasonable prices, stay hydrated!
Is there an ATM and EFTPOS at the event?
There will be ATM at the event. Eftpos facilities will be available at the event.
What should I bring?
ID – you must present your ID on entry to the event
Money and tickets. There will be no refunds for tickets purchased in advance.
Sun protection including hat and sunscreen.
A great attitude and enthusiasm to have fun!
What should I leave at home?
Chairs of any kind, umbrellas, eskys, glass, alcohol, drugs, weapons or anything that could be potentially used in a threatening manner. Fireworks or anything flammable.
Family pets and children should also be left at home.
Any dangerous items or alcohol confiscated will be discarded. Where reasonable any other items will be stored for return after the event.
Can I bring a camera?
Of course! Small personal use cameras are welcome. Large or professional equipment including recording devices will be removed and held at the entrance for collection after the show.
Will First Aid be available?
Yes, St John Ambulance will be on site and able to assist you. We recommend you party responsibly and drink plenty of water.
