Shannon Marshall & his SOULS ALMIGHTY
Shannon is one of Brisbane city’s coolest and captivating musicians.
He is an engaging and soulful vocalist and is renown throughout the east coast’s jazz and funk communities as ‘the’ trumpet player of choice.
As a leading Australian instrumentalist he has performed and toured throughout Australia and overseas with his own bands as well as with some of the country’s brightest stars including Wendy Matthews, Doug Parkinson, Glenn Shorrock, Rhonda Burchmore, Emma Pask, Tim Draxl’s Chet Baker Show FREEWAY and has regularly worked alongside Australia’s own James Morrison playing in his Funk & Motown show to name a few.
He has sung at countless festivals and jazz clubs throughout Queensland including headlining the Brisbane Festival’s Jazz on a Sunday concert series in the Courier Mail’s famous Spiegeltent, he has performed 100’s of shows throughout the US and Caribbean as the Jazz Artist in Residence onboard the world’s largest cruise ship and is the face and bandleader of one of Brisbane’s most successful Jazz Night residencies in the city’s recent years.
For this special invitation to perform at the Maroochydore Jazz-Blues Collective Shannon is bringing his band the Souls Almighty, formed with some of the country’s most respected musicians including stride & blues piano virtuoso and always a crowd favourite Wil Sargisson on keyboards, legendary Australian bass player Greg Lyon (co-founding member of the great Australian band ‘Crossfire’) and Brisbane’s young lion & rising star of the drum kit, Aaron Jansz.
Shannon will be performing a selection of songs from his favourite Jazz & Soul repertoire at the Jazz Blues Collective’s Old Soul Bar 19 Ocean St Maroochydore on Sunday 5th May. Doors open at 1.00pm. Music from 2.00pm to 4.30pm (latest 5.00pm). Tickets $24.00 Seniors $21.00
