About Crossing country - A storied walk along a sandy river
THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT. For any further enquiries, please contact the event organiser.
Sold-out at the last writers’ festival, we bring you again the writers’ walk along the banks of the Todd River.
Led by local journalist and author of Writing Home: Walking, Literature and Belonging in Australia’s Red Centre, Glenn Morrison, the walk follows the river for 4 kms along its shady banks from the CBD to the historic Alice Springs Telegraph Station.
Along the way four local writers and storytellers – Veronica Dobson, Fiona Walsh, Alex Nelson and Pat Ansell-Dodds – will each offer a particular perspective of the country to begin to build a sense of the Centre’s multi-layered history: the landscape of the totemic ancestors, its settlement through conflict, the river’s desert ecology, and a generation lost.
Let walking help shed the usual filters through which we see and perceive the world anew – for things look different at four kilometres an hour.
Evidence of your concession entitlement (a valid Health Care, Seniors or Tertiary Student card) or current NTWC membership will need to be presented on arrival at the event. To become an NTWC member please visit http://www.ntwriters.com.au/membership/
