FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS FOR 2014:

Thundering hoofs and stockwhips wake the echo's in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains as the celebrations commence to commemorate not only 100 years since the passing of Jack Riley but also the 150th Birthday of Banjo Paterson, the event that brings these two names together is the Man From Snowy River Bush Festival. The tale of how they met and the result being the writing of the poem is now a part of local folklore as is the sad tale of Jacks’ death during the amazing ride by his mates to bring him back to medical help in Corryong.

As campfire smoke wafts its way across the valley, the celebration of a culture and history that is uniquely Australian begins when thousands of lovers of all things that celebrate Australia’s mountain bush heritage converge on Corryong for a great weekend of art, music, poetry, horse competition, entertainment, trade stalls, street parades, markets, camp oven cooking, historical machinery, ute muster, dog competitions... and fun! Lots of fun!

It’s the place to make new friends or catch up with old ones...

From the dust busting action of the re-enactment of Banjo’s famous poem, the Rodeo, unique quality horsemanship or the side busting laughter at the Bush Poets or bending your elbow at the bar and having a dance with your best mate to the country rock bands ... This year featuring the highly popular Country Rock band Baylou supported by our regional rising stars Fanny Lumsden & The Thrillseekers, Pete Denahy, Danny Phegan’s Longreach Band, XFactor's Vendulka, Richard Perso, There really is something for everyone.

Banjo's Birthday Bash:  To be remembered and celebrated 150 years after your birth is impressive.  So join us Thursday evening for a Birthday party featuring The Man From Snowy River MOVIE - grab your dinner, bring your blanket & chairs and settle back on the bank for a great evening under the stars.

The Man from Snowy River Challenge When it comes to the test of outstanding, consistent all round horsemanship, the Man From Snowy River Challenge is second to none.

The Man From Snowy River Re‑enactment  Kicks off the Festival in a cloud of dust and nail biting action, the rough terrain is indicative of the imagery represented in Banjo Paterson’s famous poem ‘The Man from Snowy River’.

Throw in a Victorian Bush poetry Championships, and a great Art & Photography competition and display with some of the best country artists and photographers depicting the Australian Bush Culture and history of the Upper Murray.

Working Cattle Dog Championships: Top working dog trainers doing their best to show off the skills of these amazing cattle dogs.

Aussie Bush Idol Competition Be part of this legendary weekend and win cash and guitars and the opportunity to perform at the Country Rock Concert on the Main Stage on Saturday Night.

High Country Rodeo Home to top ranking Bull & Bronc rider Brad Pierce, Friday night’s Open Rodeo is full of bone jarring excitement in the Bull and Bronc Riding Spectacular.

The High Country Station Team Muster A fast forward day on the farm! Out of bed, roll the swag, light the fire, eat your eggs, muster the sheep, fencing, on your bike and deal with whatever comes up! Have a laugh and challenge our 2013 reigning champions.

Equine Educational Arena: Featuring 2013 Way of the Horse winner Ken Faulkner, Chiropractors, Saddle fitting, preparation of a Challenge Horse ....come along, Look, Listen, Learn and enjoy!
