About Evidence Based Practice for Students Impacted by Trauma (3-part webinar series)

Harmful sexualised behaviours in schools & EC settings  (Tuesday 16 May)

  • Session 1: Harmful sexual behaviour (HSB) is behaviour undertaken by children and young people that is developmentally inappropriate and may involve the use of coercion or abuse. There is minimal attention given to this problem that supports frontline workers such as teachers and their role in identifying and responding to HSB. This workshop will explore current information and how schools can access support when faced with this concerning issue.

Working with kinship & foster carers  (Tuesday 8 August)

  • Session 2: Foster and kinship carers are volunteer members of our community who are caring for other people’s children who have experienced harm. Carers are bounded by legislative requirements that are often not conducive to family life or caring for a child with complex mental, emotional, and physical health needs. Engaging with schools can be confronting, there are many things’ teachers and administrative staff can do to support these children and their carers.

Crossover kids and the school to prison pipeline (Tuesday 17 October)

  • Session 3: The over-representation of children from child protection backgrounds in the youth justice system is a significant and long-standing concern. This presents significant challenges to schools as these young people are nine times more likely to offend. How does this impact schools? What can schools do to support these vulnerable young children as a preventative measure?
