A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS - REMIX
Rating - MA 15+
This very special film concert closes the Bangalow Film Festival in 2021, with the classic Spaghetti Western - A fistful of Dollars - accompanied by a new score composed and played live by the celebrated composer and DJ Chiara Costanza in the A&I Hall.
Drifter gunman, Joe (Clint Eastwood), arrives in the Mexican village of San Miguel at the border of the United States of America, and befriends the owner of the local bar, Silvanito. Joe discovers that the town is dominated by two gangster lords: John Baxter (Wolfgang Lukschy) and the cruel Ramón Rojo (Gian Maria Volontè). When Joe kills four men of Baxter's gang, he is hired by Ramón's brother, Esteban Rojo (Sieghardt Rupp), to join their gang. However, Joe decides to work for both sides, playing one side against the other.
Chiara Costanza is a Melbourne-based music composer, producer and DJ born and raised in Torino, Italy. Classically trained in piano and later exposed to electronic music after moving to Melbourne in 2004, Chiara has since moved into a well-respected position in the Australian electronic music scene, where she performs under the moniker Chiara Kickdrum. Over her DJ career, Chiara has appeared at Pitch Music Festival, Melbourne Music Week, Meredith Music Festival and Dark Mofo, and composed music for fashion designer Dion Lee at Melbourne Fashion Week.
A sought after film composer for film and TV, her short film All These Creatures, was awarded a Palme D'Or at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.
Her score for A Fistful of Dollars pays a heartfelt tribute to the music of the legendary Italian composer Ennio Morricone, who passed away last July.
Chiara will be accompanied by a number of local musicians playing on stage alongside her.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to watch Sergio Leone’s classic Western as you’ve never seen – or rather heard – before.
