About Book Talk: Arelhekenhe Angkentye - Women’s Talk

"There is healing in this poetry. These are our words. From our country. Our lands. Our spirits.” Arelhekenhe Angkentye: Women’s Talk (Ptilotus Press, 2020) is a brand-new, all women, all Arrernte poetry collection where mothers, grandmothers, great grandmothers and daughters share poems about struggle, heartache, happiness, and the joy of being yourself. These women are constantly stretched across two incongruent worlds. The world of Arrernte language, culture, kinship, country, and knowledge, and the modern world with its ongoing colonisation and relentless pressures. Both of these worlds are captured in their poems.
