Classification Tasting
Muscat of Rutherglen is an Australian treasure, impossible to replicate as it contains the essence and artistry of multiple generations. It is lovingly handcrafted from aged stocks, nurtured by generations of Rutherglen winemakers in their unique climate. The resulting wines are intense, rich, and sensuous.

Muscat of Rutherglen is classified using a tiered system that indicates the level of complexity of the wine. The four descriptions mark a progression in richness, complexity, age and intensity of flavour. Age is only one factor in determining a wine’s classification, but it does provide an important clue. Each producer of Muscat of Rutherglen has their own “House Style” within the classification system.

Join Chris Skinner, Winemaker at De Bortoli Rutherglen Estate as he takes your taste buds on a guided tour through the Rhone Valley. Experience the varietals of this incredible wine region and allow Chris to show you both young and perfectly aged varietals such as Vigonier, Roussanne, Marsanne and more. You will also get an exclusive first look at 2022 samples straight from the barrel!

You'll certainly walk away from this Masterclass with a deeper knowledge of the Rhone Valley and some new favourite varietals!"

Blending Masterclass 
Muscat of Rutherglen is a world-recognised and critically acclaimed wine style unique to Rutherglen, with a proud history spanning over 100 years of family winemaking. The blending skills required to produce this rare gem have been passed down from generation to generation with winemakers plying their craft so that they can share their skills and artistry with Muscat lovers from all over the world.

The magic of Muscat is seemingly endless, especially for the Winemakers of Rutherglen. Rutherglen is known for producing arguably the best Muscat in the world thanks to perfect growing conditions and a handful of families who have been its custodians for generations. But behind the complex, luscious wine style is wine stained clothes, hot days working the vines and decades of checking old dusty barrels.

We want you to experience ‘the real Muscat’ as it’s your turn to experiment to see how close you can get to an officially classified Muscat!

Down To Earth - The Durif Masterclass
Join Durif devotee Andrew Sutherland Smith as he unravels the history and the mystery of Rutherglen's most renowned red grape. 

Sample multiple vintage of Warrabilla Durif, including the famed Parola's label, and experience first hand the passion that 'Smithy' has for the variety. Compare and contrast Warrabilla's finest with examples of Durif from elsewhere around the country, and discover why it is so at home in Rutherglen's continental climate. 

Modern Durif MasterClass 
Learn how Rutherglen’s younger winemaking generations are fashioning modern Durifs into a softer, more approachable style. Host Angela Brown will take you through a range of these unique Rutherglen red wines, from the aromatic and youthful St Leonards Vineyard Dr Durif to All Saints Estate Durif, which recently achieved 95 points from Halliday Wine Companion.
