Singing is where it all starts. We sing before we can talk or (sometimes walk!). And singing is how we choose to close out our beautiful festival at our main venue: the Creswick Town Hall. You'll feel a lump in your throat as voices rise in song: that ultimate gesture of optimism. Our remarkable choir leader Stella Savy (Ballarat) will lead a bevy of dedicated choristers in music from all over, including one commissioned original song by local songwriter Neil Adam. Be there!

Stella Savy’s singular blend of funk, soul, reggae and ska is unlike any other performer in Australia. Her original music is influenced by her Seychelle Island heritage: the sounds of the islands fused with reggae and ska guitar rhythms. Her original material showcases her talent as a songwriter and vocalist. Stella's expressive and soulful vocal style captivates audiences all over Australia. A regular leader of massive choirs for The Boite Millenium Chorus and The Boite Schools Chorus, Stella has been the driving force behind the Creswick Kids' Choir and the Creswick Community Choir. 

Stella’s Sweet Mona’s Choir, based in Ballarat, is one of Victoria’s leading, and longest running, gospel and world music choirs. Comprising 30-40 singers, from a diverse range of backgrounds and ages, countless people from the community have enjoyed, and benefited from, performing with the choir over the past 20 odd years. Each member offers something different to the choir, keeping Sweet Mona’s Choir a colourful and lively human music machine!

In 2021, the CresFest Choir was but a twinkle in the eye of CresFest organisers. And now look! Seeded by Stella Savy the Creswick community singers are now a fully fledged group of performers, belting out their own arrangements and joining in with gusto on original songs and collaborations.

This event will be followed by our fabulous festival finale – the Brass and Bollywood Extravaganza – where voices will be swelled by the sound of trumpets, trombones, saxophones and more, all building to an amazing culmination of dancing, swirling Bollywood routines. Sing your heart out and then join us for a dance!
