More than a club, not just Scottish, the mighty Melbourne Scottish Fiddlers defy description. They will charm you, make you laugh and cry, and above all will inspire you with their high energy performances. Founded by CresFest convenor Judy Turner the club has been delighting crowds across Australia, New Zealand and Scotland since 1995. A group where enthusiasm is treasured as highly as performing skills, and definitely one of those places where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Multiple winners of the Golden Fiddle awards, they are legendary in community music circles for their inclusivity and for developing young talent.
Eric Bogle is an internationally known and respected songwriter. Born and raised in Scotland, Eric emigrated to Australia at the age of 25, where he fell in love with the people and the history. Eric’s songs have covered a variety of topics, and have been performed by many artists. Two of his best-known songs are 'And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda' and 'No Man's Land' (or 'The Green Fields of France'), with the former named one of the APRA Top 30 Australian songs in 2001. He has performed at major folk and music festivals around the globe, as well as treading the boards in countless folk, footy, bowling and social clubs and arts theatres. A generous and humorous performer with a huge heart: he's a national treasure!
