Damned Sam & The Preachers are headed over the hills for the first time this Labour Day Long weekend.

They’re a road-worn country band from Victoria’s Ovens Valley, drawing influence from Chris Stapleton and the Turnpike Troubadours, filtered through a life grown in the bush rather than the glare of Music Row.

Playing your Favorite covers as well as their original songs — “She Only Loves Me When She’s Drunk,” “Ovens Valley Pines” and “Heaven Sent” — they tell stories of love gone wrong, long roads and the rugged beauty of rural Australia, led by the gritty vocals of songwriter Sam McIntosh.

Backed by a driving mix of country boogie, fiddle and twang, the band delivers honest, no-frills country music.
