The fourteenth annual Gumeracha Medieval Fair will be held on the
8in the Federation Park from nd & 9 rd May 10am-5pm on Saturday & 10am-4pm Sunday 2021. Once again, there will be another two days of medieval fun and excitement. Her Majesty welcomes all loyal subjects to crown lands but has restrictions to minimize the plague that ravages the lands near and far. There will be no coin of the realms taken at the gates and all ye who would enter must be free of the sickness and have not come from interstate lands afar
The Royal Courtiers have enlisted the following wonderous acts to amaze and entertain the populous:
The FLYING FLETCHES will be there to thrill the crowds with their Archery on Horseback In the combat arena bold Knights in armour will battle to win the Queen’s favour and the raiding Vikings will show their fighting skills to all fairgoers. The Ukrainian Cossacks will perform their traditional dances and fighting displays and will demonstrate their craft at their encampment. And the Test of Manhood challenge by the strongest man in Australia Jordan Steffans is a performance not to be missed!
The fast and furious Border Celts will demonstrate their warrior dance in training for battle.
Philippe the Juggler, Musicians, Entertainers and Performers will entertain and delight the crowds and there will be feats of skill from the Medieval Archers with their bows and arrows!
musicians from across the state will provide medieval folk music from many cultural backgrounds. The very popular “ Merchants Lane” will also be offering a wide range of medieval-style crafts and activities. We have so many now they are spread over all the fairgrounds. The dedicated Children’s Area will again have Storytellers, Face Painters, a children’s Costume-maker, Native Animal Nursery and the very popular Punch and Judy show, as well as other wonderful stalls and activities to ensure there is something for the whole family to enjoy.
Food purveyors will again be following the medieval theme with sumptuous tastes to tempt the passer-by. Foods and beverages derived in the local Torrens Valley area, Wendy and David Cook of the Birdwood Wine & Cheese Centre will be there in the Tavern together with the famous “Mien Hosts” from the Lobethal Bierhaus serving their award-winning beers and the Thistle Meadery, who have a large range of flavours of their award winning Mead for you to try.
Across Kenton Creek in the
Medieval Village visitors will find village blacksmiths and chain maille makers hard at work in the “ smithy”. The village encapsulates what life was like in medieval times, as the Spinners, the Herbalist, Leather artisans, Calligraphers, the Cooper and several woodworkers ply their trade. Past the village, patrons will find the Medieval Archery ground where they can experience demonstrations with the famous English longbow.
