About In Conversation: Behrouz Boochani
After six years of incarceration in the Manus Island detention centre in Papua New Guinea, Kurdish-Iranian writer and journalist Behrouz Boochani was amongst the last detainees to be moved to Port Moresby in late 2019 after the facility was closed. Boochani’s multi-award winning book, No Friend But the Mountains, offers a tremendous, lyrical expression of the human spirit, and a fierce critique of Australia’s offshore detention regime. Boochani joins us via video conference to discuss hope, nonviolent resistance, and the power of art to name injustice and create political change.
