About 2024 Break the Patterns Conference
The one-day ‘2024 Break the Patterns Conference’, hosted by Multicultural Families Organisation-SARA Program and the Gold Coast Domestic Violence Integrated Response, focuses on the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities effected by domestic and family violence.
As a first of its kind initiative on the Gold Coast, this conference has been developed in recognition that domestic and family violence support, for CALD communities, requires a strong intersectional lens to ensure effective and culturally informed responses.
Conference attendance is open to CALD community leaders, based on the Gold Coast, and Gold Coast services working alongside CALD communities. Discussions will focus on improving community safety, systemic responses, and raising awareness of the intersectional barriers faced by women, children and families from CALD backgrounds experiencing domestic and family violence.
The conference will include keynote speakers Dr Ana Bourges Jelinic and Dr Faiza El-Higzi (OAM), panel discussions and insights from key service providers and women with lived experience, interactive breakout sessions and networking opportunities.
Please note, the venue is equipped for wheelchair access.
