About CHASING THE GOLD - Semaphore Surf Life Saving Club

We’re excited to announce that on Sunday 1st February, Semaphore Life Saving Club will be hosting Chasing The Gold, the brand-new film celebrating 40+ years of Australia’s toughest surf race- The Coolangatta Gol
This is a fantastic chance for our members, families and the wider community to come together, enjoy an inspiring Australian film, and support the ongoing work of our club.

Our club screening will be held at St Michael's College auditorium at 2pm. Doors open from 1.30pm. Chocolates and soft drinks available at the door, with all proceeds going to support the club!

Chasing The Gold follows some of the biggest names in surf life saving as they tackle the 40th anniversary of the iconic 41.8km Coolangatta Gold — a legendary test of endurance, resilience and heart.
The documentary features:
• Ali Day – the greatest ironman of all time, pushing for his historic tenth title.
• Conner Maggs – the fearless young gun determined to dethrone on a champion.
• Lana Rogers – the reigning women’s champion, battling rivals and her own doubts in pursuit of a third crown.
Ali Day says: “I hope the film encourages the next generation to get out in the surf, have a crack, and never give up on their dreams.”
Lana Rogers says: “I’m excited for this movie to come out, to not only show the work we put in as athletes and the work our coaches put in, but to showcase how special the race is.”

The Coolangatta Gold began in 1984 as a fictional race scripted for a romantic feature film. But what started on screen became reality—transforming into one of the toughest tests of grit, endurance, and spirit in Australian sport.

By coming along, you’re not only watching an incredible Australian story — you’re supporting our club.
Funds raised from this screening will help us:
• Strengthen surf life saving programs
• Support training and equipment
• Continue keeping our beaches safe
• Invest in youth development and community initiatives
• Inspire Nippers and members to get involved!
Your ticket directly contributes to the future of surf life saving.

Let’s sell it out!
Bring your family, bring your mates, and settle in for an uplifting night celebrating the athletes, culture and history that make surf life saving so special!
