About 2022 Newcastle Jazz Festival

Newcastle and Hunter Jazz Club Presents:

33RD NEWCASTLE JAZZ FESTIVAL

SPONSORED by REGIONAL AUSTRALIA BANK

Friday 19th, Saturday 20th and Sunday 21th August 2022.

The diverse choice and smorgasbord of music and the very affordable ticket prices, representing incredible value for money, are the keys to the festival’s continuing success.

It is regarded as the best jazz festival in Australia.

More than one hundred and fifty musicians will be blowing up a storm and presenting over 60 hours of music across the three days of the festival.

The venue is the iconic Newcastle City Hall where music will be on four stage areas across the weekend.

There will be bars and food available on site and there are various cafes and restaurants just a short walk from City Hall.

The Newcastle light rail can quickly transport patrons from nearby hotels and parking areas to the City Hall.

The diverse range of music includes trad, mainstream and contemporary jazz, big bands, swing, blues, a jazz vocal group and jazz/boogie piano.

Dance floors in the Concert hall, Banquet and Hunter rooms, will cater for those who like to move to the music.

Performers include:

The Swing Kings and Sinatra Swing with Mitch Capone and the Andy Firth Orchestra. Other groups sure to please include Andrew Dickeson’s Blue Rhythm Band, brilliant clarinettist Andy Firth, guitarist Adam Miller, Stride pianist Robbie Mann, The Rehab Brass Band and Steve Edmonds Jazz and Blues Band. Traditional jazz fans will have plenty of choice including Geoff Bull and the Finer Cuts, Caroline Packer’s Stompin’ Rhythm Aces, jazz gospel and umbrella parade with Lee Gunness and the Geoff Power Jazz Band, and Canberra’s Zackerbilks. Young performers include Chloe Gill, Brynn Hulls, Steph Russell, and funk bands Bleu Collective and Spuz. Entertainer extraordinaire, Ami Williamson, vocalist Gregg Arthur, The Dungeon Big Band, Pikou Panez, jump jive jazz from Fish Fry, and Gypsy Jazz violinist Vov Dylan and his trio demonstrate how much choice festival patrons will have.

This indicative line-up demonstrates the choice festival patrons will have.

These, and more to come, will ensure a highly entertaining weekend not to be missed.
