Friday 19th, Saturday 20th and Sunday 21th August 2022.


The diverse choice and smorgasbord of music and the very affordable ticket prices, representing incredible value for money, are the keys to the festival’s continuing success.


It is regarded as the best jazz festival in Australia.


Two hundred musicians will be blowing up a storm and presenting over 60 hours of music across the three days of the festival.


The venue is the iconic Newcastle City Hall where music will be on five stage areas across the weekend.


 There will be bars and food available on site and there are various cafes and restaurants just a short walk from City Hall.


The Newcastle light rail can quickly transport patrons from nearby hotels and parking areas to the City Hall.


The diverse range of music includes trad, mainstream and contemporary jazz, big bands, swing, blues, a jazz vocal group and jazz/boogie piano. 


Dance floors in the Concert hall, Banquet and Hunter rooms, will cater for those who like to move to the music.


Performers include:

The Swing Kings, The New Empire Ragtime Dance Orchestra, Andrew Dickeson’s Blue Rhythm Band. The Great Gatsby Jazz Ochestra and Swing Company will delight those who like to dance.

Other groups sure to please include Stride pianist Robbie Mann, The Rehab Brass Band , Daryl Aberhart Quartet, Steve Edmonds Jazz and Blues Band, The Bathtub Gin Orchestra, Sharny Russell Trio, Half Nelson and The Dungeon Big Band.

Trad Jazz fans will have plenty of choice including Geoff Bull and the Finer Cuts, Caroline Packer’s Stompin’ Rhythm Aces, Licorice Allsorts, Black Mountain and Bridge City band, jazz gospel and umbrella parade with Lee Gunness and the Geoff Power Jazz Band, and Canberra’s Zackerbilks.

Young performers include Brynn Hulls singing with the Terence Koo Trio, Steph Russell, Freddie Stafford, funk band Spuz and HSPA Stage Band.

Entertainer extraordinaire, Ami Williamson, jump jive jazz from Fish Fry, Gypsy Jazz from Cygan Groove, the world’s fastest violinist Vov Dylan, some French Jazz from Emma Hamilton, vocal quartet Bella Voce, and Banjo/Bassoon duo Stitch demonstrate how much choice festival patrons will have.

These, and other bands will ensure a highly entertaining weekend not to be missed.
