About The 33rd Newcastle Jazz Festival 2020
Newcastle and Hunter Jazz Club Presents:
Friday 28th, Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August 2020 sees the staging of the 33rd Newcastle Jazz Festival. The diverse choice and smorgasbord of music and the very affordable ticket prices, representing incredible value for money, are the keys to the festival’s continuing success. It is regarded as one of the best jazz festivals in Australia. More than one hundred and fifty musicians will be blowing up a storm and presenting over 50 hours of music across the three days of the festival.
The venue is the fabulous Wests Leagues Club and Bowling Club where music will be on four stage areas across the weekend. The Wests Club has a large bistro, 3 coffee shops and specialty restaurants to cater for all tastes. The New Lambton village shops are a five-minute walk.
The diverse range of music includes trad, mainstream and contemporary jazz, big bands, swing, some blues, a jazz vocal group and jazz/boogie piano. A dance floor in West’s Starlight Room will cater for those who like to move to the music.
Performers include Brisbane’s iconic Caxton Street Jazz Band, Kevin Hunt Trio, Andrew Dickeson’s Blue Rhythm Swing Band, brilliant clarinettist Andy Firth, Steve Edmonds Jazz and Blues Band, entertainer extraordinaire, Ami Williamson, traditional jazz gospel with Lee Gunness and the Bob Henderson Jazz Band, Geoff Power jazz Band, The Dungeon Big Band and the ever popular jump jive jazz from Fish Fry demonstrate how much choice festival patrons will have.
