About Animalia - Night in the Museum
Join us for an intimate evening in the Museum of Central Australia, in honour of animal species passed and passing. Hear stories from local people and poets about Central Australian mammals made extinct by settlement — recorded by ground-breaking mammalogist, author and photographer Hedley Finlayson, and remembered by Indigenous people of this region. Presenters include Kiwirrkurra ranger, Jodie Ward, Dr Ken Johnson and poet Meg Mooney, followed by award-winning author of The Animals in That Country, Laura Jean McKay, and philosopher and author Danielle Celermajer, who will speak to multispecies perspectives in writing, and storytelling in the face of the cataclysmic biodiversity losses of our times.
Please be advised that, due to travel restrictions, Danielle Celermejer and Laura Jean McKay will no longer appear in person at this event. Laura will record a reading for this event and Danielle will appear via video link up.
