About Wild Words – Open Mic

After four days of listening to big ideas, enlightening discussions and spellbinding stories, here’s your chance to take to the stage in this special NT Writers Festival edition of Wild Words. Darwin’s longest-running spoken word open mic night, Wild Words offers monthly themes to inspire your writing. This month’s theme is – you guessed it – balarr | catching the light.

Reading time is five minutes max, so make sure you keep things short and sweet. Sign up at the door if you want to perform or just kick back and let some of the Top End’s finest wordsmiths bring the weekend to a delightful close.


Ticket revenue covers less than 15% of the cost of running the NT Writers Festival. Each year we keep tickets prices accessible and include free programs for the community.
