About Workshop: Writing History — Eleanor Hogan
PLEASE NOTE: This event has been postponed from Sunday 29 August to Sunday 19 September 2021. If you already have your ticket, no further action is required as your tickets will still be valid for this new date. We look forward to seeing you in September!
Once you’ve trawled through the archives and assembled your notes, how do you start writing a history? Why write this particular historical story now? Who are you writing for? Who gets to tell a story? How to accommodate diverse voices and perspectives? Participants will be encouraged to develop their own approach to a historical project through reading extracts from historical writing and experimenting with writing techniques.
Before the workshop begins, Alice Woods, from Library & Archives NT (LANT), will give a brief introduction to the collections held and services offered by LANT both in Alice Springs and across the Territory and introduce you to some of the treasures and joys to be found in the archives.
Ticket revenue covers less than 15% of the cost of running the NT Writers Festival. Each year we keep tickets prices accessible and include free programs for the community.
