The Shearers Shindig is a vibrant 2 day event, on the 24th and 25th of May, filled with family friendly activities and entertainment – located in Thargomindah at the Sports Oval. Attendees can enjoy exciting quick shear heats, thrilling pig races, browse through market stalls, savour delicious food offerings, experience captivating entertainment and groove to the tunes of some talented artists such as our headliner Mick Lindsay.
Join us on Friday the 24th of May for a jam-packed schedule featuring a variety of activities. Explore the world of shearing at the Shearers Smoko/Info Chat and gain insights into the equipment and techniques used. Dive into informative chats about the regional area and expand your knowledge on bees at the apiarist info chat. Browse through numerous market stalls and food venders offering a diverse range of products and delicious treats. Participate in the Colour Fun Run and prepare for an evening of music and entertainment with our headliner Mick Lindsay, artist Adam Kilpatrick, and a high impact pyrotechnics show by Flux Entertainment. Don’t miss out on this unforgettable event.
On Saturday, May 25th, get ready for the highlight of The Shearers Shindig – The Quick Shear Competition! Cheer on the thrilling pig races and witness the adrenaline- pumping quick shear heats. This exciting competition not only showcases the wool industry that has put us on the map, but also celebrates the incredible talent of our local, national and international shearers. Sheep shearing is an iconic trade in rural Australia, with a shearers skill measured by the number of sheep they can shear in a day. Join us at the Shearers Shindig – Quick Shears competition to witness the legendary tradition in action. That’s not all – enjoy more electrifying performances by the talented Mick Lindsay Saturday Night to conclude this memorable weekend.
