Peter and the Wolf

SPAT is delighted to present this classic work by Serjei Prokofiev.

A narrator tells the famous folk tale of Peter and the Wolf while the orchestra represents each character in the story using different instruments and identifying themes. Wollongong Conservatorium’s Mikaela Wu will conduct the chamber orchestra which features musicians from both SPAT and the Conservatorium.

Add actors and puppets on stage and you are in for a magical treat!

This is a performance that provides a wonderful introduction to the orchestra and will be enjoyed by one and all.

The Case of the Haunted Chateau from the Sherlock Holmes radio series dates from 1944.

Based on an original story by Arthur Conan Doyle, the play tells the tale of a rich American gun-totin’ mamma from Wyoming who buys the Chateau Verlon-sur-Rhone to please her refined daughter only to find out it is haunted!

Can murder be far behind?

Six dramatic readers, a pianist and a sound effects person bring this classic, dramatic radio play to the CWA stage.
