About Sturt Avenue / Jay Eliot Mee

Sturt Avenue

Sturt Avenue is an indie folk/Australiana family band led by SCALA award-winning singer-songwriter Bryn Soden. Built from a foundation of familial bonds and cherished friendships, the band also features John Soden on mandolin and slide guitar, Gina Nott on violin, and Lou Howard on banjo. Their music weaves tales of love and sorrow, threaded with that elusive, golden-hour feeling - the kind that lingers after a night of singing, dancing, drinking, and laughing with the people who know you best.

Jay Eliot Mee

Jay Eliot Mee is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Tarntanya/Adelaide. His work explores the possibilities of pop music and its architecture, highlighting a deep interest in form and structure - while retaining a love for storytelling, sincerity, and the patterns of everyday language. In 2024, he released his debut album Talking To Music About People, an art-pop exploration of the swirling social dynamics that beset young adulthood. “Spanish Time” from that album was selected for inclusion on the compilation Sitting In The Same Chairs, released on vinyl by Impressed Recordings, with themusic.com.au praising the song’s “gripping narrative”.

EP Inside Jachin Mee followed in November 2025; a folk-tinged collection inspired by the films of Joel & Ethan Coen, and created from a blend of digital and cassette tape recordings. Joining him on stage are Harry Blight (drums), Thea Martin (violin/ clarinet), and Sam Wilson (bass/backing vocals).
