About The Shearers Shindig 2023
Bulloo Shire Council is proud to host The Shearers Shindig on the 26 & 27 May 2023 right here in Thargomindah! Hosted on the Thargomindah Sports Grounds, this family friendly event showcases the wit, humour and work ethic of the shearers that built our region through a variety of classic Aussie entertainment.
Come and have a yarn with local legends and learn about how Thargomindah was built on a sheep’s back. Sit back and enjoy Wolfgang’s Magical Musical Circus, a family show with a circus twist designed to amaze the whole crowd! Get colourful with the Shearers Shindig Colour Run – you can run, walk, rollerblade – the options are endless.
Precision Working Dogs will show you how it’s done with their working dog demonstrations showcasing their group of incredibly smart dogs, working sheep in a low stress manner. Learn all about some awesome reptiles with the Snake Boss at her Reptile Shows throughout the Shindig. These creepy crawlers will keep both you and the kids entertained!
Let Drace Illusionist draw you in with his displays of truth defying magic and be hypnotised by his unbelievable Stage Show. Rock both nights away with our live band Tennessee Lights.
Come on down and place your bets on the Thargo Cup hosted by Noah’s Pig Races where all the action is!
All of this fun leads up to the main event ‘The Shearers Shindig - Quick Shear Competition’! This event showcases the wool industry which put us on the map and celebrates the talent of our local, national and international shearers.
The Shearers Shindig boasts two fun filled days of markets, the Colour Run, food vendors and bar, live music, marvellous entertainment and of course some of the best shearers in the country competing to be the Quick Shear Competition winner!
