About Fabulous Ferments Class
CWA Vic proudly presents a workshop showing you how to ferment food for longer shelf life. Fermentation is an ancient technique of preserving food and is a process that involves the breakdown of carbs by bacteria and yeast. It results in a distinctive tart flavour. The process is still used today to produce foods like wine, cheese, sauerkraut, yogurt, and kombucha
Not only are you preserving food for later use but fermented foods are rich in beneficial probiotics and have been associated with a range of health benefits — from better digestion to stronger immunity.
Come and join Peg as she leads you through a variety of fermentation processes as a hands on workshop.
She will show you how to pickle vegetables such as Cucumbers, Cabbage, Fennel, Beetroot, make some vinegars and mustards and a sour dough bread.
At the end of the day, you will take home a sour dough starter, a bottle of Champagne vinegar, a SCOBY for starting your own vinegars, jar of kimchi, sauerkraut, preserved lemons, pickled baby pine cones and aged roasted fenungeek from Peg’s Pantry.
