Why?
We are hosting this day in memory of Richie’s brother Marcus. On February 22, 2022, we went about our days like any other until the news came that our beloved Marcus had passed away suddenly from a heart attack. Marcus’ passing continues to be difficult, and we all miss him deeply. It has also been a powerful reminder for us that life is precious, and that we all need to listen to our bodies, prioritise our health, and take steps to ensure our hearts are as strong as they can be. Marcus was a passionate lover of music and had one of the widest, most eclectic playlists you could imagine. So, it feels especially fitting that we have chosen a music day to kickstart our very first Heart Foundation fundraising event.
About the musicians:
-
The Brothers Hill: Jake and Jordan are Brissy brothers who grew up on the Southside that love their country music and a good time. They have an acoustic and electric vibe tied in with a sibling harmony, and two members of the stomp and holler country band ‘The Wet Whistles’ who have played at CMC Rocks and Tamworth Country Music Festival.
-
Shannon Sol Carroll: Shannon is a singer, songwriter and guitarist from the Sunshine Coast whose sound is a chilled summer brew of laid back roots, saltwater folk and acoustic soul. He is lead guitarist and vocalist for surf roots rock group ‘Band of Frequencies’ and has toured nationally with Bernard Fanning.
-
Dillion James Band: Dillion James specialises in starting the party with his New Orleans piano grooves, funky hammond organ, and raw honest vocals. Influenced heavily by the pioneers of blues piano & hammond organ, Dillion's powerful stage presence makes an instant impact. Over the last 20 years, Dillion has re-birthed an energetic sound that encapsulates the tone of an earlier era. He has played at Byron Bluesfest, Woodford Festival and many more.
