About Strum, Pinch & Pluck: Autoharp Basics with Allen Riebau
Autoharp Basics with Allen Riebau
Session 1: Sat 26 Sept at 10.15am - 11.15am
Session 2: Sun 27 Sept at 11.30am - 12.30pm
Dr. Al Riebau is a retired environmental scientist who has turned to music after more than forty years working on ecological and air quality issues. As an avid autoharpist who lives in the Perth Metro area, he coordinates the Merriwa Acoustic Music Club. He has been playing autoharp for over six years (occasionally performing at folk clubs around WA) and plays diatonic harps, or autoharps that play in one or two keys. His playing is influenced by years in Ohio, Kentucky and the vast US western states. He is also a student of Lucille Riley (six-time US Autoharp Champion and Autoharp Hall of Fame member). Al will lead the workshops on-site with Lucille joining in virtually from Denver, Colorado as time differences allow. This year’s workshops will be targeted for the complete beginner to intermediate player, but advanced players are more than welcome to come “strut their stuff.” Al and Lucille are also hoping to be joined by some virtual surprise autoharp guests. There will be a couple of extra harps on-site, so come join in if you are a player, wannabe player, or just autoharp curious.
Nb. If you are only able to attend one workshop, please register for the one you wish to attend. The registration fee will remain at $20 whether you do one or two workshops.
