The Beinke Brothers Band

The infectious groove of the Beinke Brothers Band undoubtedly emanates from the rich melting pot of old-time country, blues, ballroom, and rock and roll music of their youth.

The Beinke brothers (Leo, John and Rob) grew up in the 60’s and 70’s, at the younger end of a large family on the family farm at Narridy Creek and were surrounded by the music of their parents, older siblings, and radio, from birth. After tinkering on the piano, harmonica and accordion, their lives took a turn with the Christmas arrival of a guitar. From there the brothers dreamed of one day playing the music they loved (Credence, Beatles, Fleetwood Mac) in their own band.

After moving to Whyalla in 1980 for work, the brothers formed their band Funny Bizness and began playing around the traps in Whyalla and Eyre Peninsula. The band really kicked into gear after being joined briefly by a local Whyalla legend in George Scharenberg, a period the brothers credit as having a profound effect on the function of the band, and the quality of their music.

After the band split in late 1983, the brothers went their separate ways, all the while remaining musically active, and re-uniting from time to time for memorable gigs.

Now, almost 40 years later, the Brothers are back together, along with members of their next generation, playing their best music ever, and pumping out their rich blend of jammy, bluesy, country infused rock and roll.
