'Learning from the Masters' with Tom Alberts.


During this 4 hour practical and hands-on Masterclass, participants will work in pencil and Tom Alberts will explain and demonstrate:

- The techniques and processes of a Master painter
- How to train the eye in the subtlety of painting
- Pictorial language and composition
- The "layers" of a painting
- How a painting can be made spontaneously
- How to apply these techniques to your own work to develop your own pictorial language
- Refreshments (bottomless coffee and morning tea), sketch pads and drawing materials are provided


This Masterclass will appeal to those with an interest and/or skills in drawing (and painting) and a desire to hone their skills with assistance from one of the leaders in the field.

Speaker Profile

Tom Alberts is a multi-award winning figurative painter who has had numerous solo and group exhibitions in all major Australian cities over the past 20 years. His work is in the Art Gallery of WA, NGV, Art Gallery of Queensland, BHP, Parliament House Canberra, Holmes a Court Collection, Art Bank, Melbourne University, Monash University and many more. His work is held in private collections in Australia, the UK, Germany and Italy. He has taught drawing and painting at the Victoria College of the Arts and Curtin, Swinburne, Monash and RMIT universities. He is represented by Charles Nodrum Gallery, Melbourne.
