Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of LiVE’s signature album Throwing Copper, Pier Hotel and Pearl Entertainment Group present the launch of this exciting new concept show Lightning Crashes on Halloween, Saturday 31st October. Special guests rearviewmirror The Pearl Jam Experience perform an exclusive afterparty set of B-sides and special faves after the show.
Throwing Copper was one of the most dominant rock records of the 90’s, a slow-building success story that sold over 10 million copies, and made it to #1 almost a year after its release. It is almost impossible to overstate how popular this album was in its day.
Fast track twenty years, to a day when our live music culture thrives on the escapism found in memories from our “days back when”, channelling our inner youth through a surging trend of heritage artists, tribute shows and classic album concepts. Evolving on ABBA and bad 80’s such tribute style concepts now face an exciting change. Mirroring the twenty year cycle that now approaches another significant parallel that changed music and Generation X forever… 90’s GRUNGE.
Behind the exceptional power of vocalist Ed Kowalczyk, LiVE and their sophomore album Throwing Copper launched us into an era of passionately captivating, hard edged anthems that included Lightning Crashes, All Over You, I Alone, Selling The Drama and dozens more. This was only the beginning.
In the tradition of Ed Kowalczyk’s LiVE, Lightning Crashes celebrates the classic album anthems of Throwing Copper plus the essential hits of LiVE and Ed Kowalczyk’s post LiVE solo journey also celebrating classics Dolphins Cry, Lakini’s Juice, Freaks and Heaven to name a few.
Produced from the creative network behind some of Australia’s leading concept bands including The Midnight Oil Show, The Faux Fighters, A Day On The Greenday, Temperamental and The Pearl Jam Experience. Featuring Dylan Boyd, Ben Webster, Noel Tenny, Scott Thornburn and Jordan Mills together in an artistic celebration of LiVE music.
