In the lead-up to International Women’s Day, Women’s Agenda is hosting an exclusive event to announce and recognise the winners of the 2014 NAB Women’s Agenda Leadership Awards, and provide a forum for guests to engage with some of the country’s most inspiring women.
Hear from influential and successful speakers as they share their own stories of how they got to where they are today, including some of the challenges they’ve overcome to reach the top.
The keynote address will be delivered by the former Queensland Premier, and recently appointed CEO of YWCA NSW, Anna Bligh.
Anna was the first woman to be appointed Premier of Queensland, a role she held from 2007 to 2012. Prior to entering Parliament in 1995, Anna worked in a number of community organisations, including child care services, neighbourhood centres, women's refuges and trade unions as well as in the Queensland Public Service.
After retiring from politics in 2012, Anna moved to Sydney with her family. In 2013 she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma for which she underwent treatment and has now received the medical all-clear.
In January 2014 she embarked on a new challenge as CEO of YWCA NSW – a not for profit organisation that supports 30,000 vulnerable people in NSW each year.
