About The Civilised Sultan | SAT 31st OCT

4000 BCE in the foreign lands of Mesopotamia, there wandered a tribe of people who came to rest above the Persian Gulf. To the East loomed the Zagros Mountains, to the West lay the vast Arabian Desert. The Sultan of the people was on a desperate search for the Lost Lamp of Euphrates, an ancient heirloom of his ancestors, said to have the power to change the destiny of man. Once the lamp is found, he is visited by the 7 Gods of Mesopotamia, to bestow upon him their wisdoms and knowledge. They evoke precautions and tests, as the fate of humanity and ultimately civilisation will depend on the one who can open the lamp.

The Civilised Sultan is a production with a collaboration of local artists who are bringing the magic and mystery of the Middle East to the Sunshine Coast.
The production is set in ancient Mesopotamia and journeys through one version of humankinds history. Between the two river of Tigris and Euphrates, humans discovered agriculture, building, written word, philosophy, law and order. Filled with an assortment of oriental and fusion bellydance, live music, LED acts, sword balancing and feature acts from Adel Amin, Bellas Bellydance, Melha Bellydance, Janna Bellydancer, Divine Sparks, Bellydance Sunshine Coast, Angela Aura and more, this theatrical production is a chance to be swept into the realms of fantasy as we relive our past, and set intentions for our future.
