About Tung Acupuncture for Pelvic Pain Management presented by Naomi Jankowski

INTORODUCTION:

Tung acupuncture is a concise system of treatment known for its minimal needling and powerful results.  This one-day seminar is an introduction to Tung theory with a special focus on pelvic pain conditions. In particular we will look at management of endometriosis, adenomyosis, vaginismus and vulvodynia. This class is appropriate both for the new graduate, as well as those who already have familiarity with the Tung system.

SYNOPSIS:

In this seminar we simplify the concepts of Tung’s acupuncture, making it clinically relevant and immediately applicable. By introducing several key points that have a broad range of clinical application, practitioners will leave with an insight into use of these points for pelvic pain conditions. Discussing management of endometriosis, adenomyosis, vaginismus and vulvodynia, we will look at patterns and their corresponding acupuncture points. Naomi presents a step-by-step system that allows the practitioner to go from their diagnosis and arrive at the appropriate selection of points via pulse diagnosis, palpation and consideration of pain locations, in a framework that is logical and effective.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

- A summarized background of Master Tung and his lineage, as well as an introduction to the basic concepts of Tung's acupuncture, such as imaging, and use of microsystems.

- An overview of Western treatment options for endometriosis, adenomyosis, vaginismus and vulvodynia.

- Pattern differentiation and acupuncture point selection.

- Discussion of factors affecting point selection, such as the location of pain, the pulse and palpation of potential acupuncture points.

- Patient management and what to aim for when working with pain conditions in clinic.

WHY A PRACTITIONER SHOULD COME ALONG:

Pelvic pain, whether it be from endometriosis, adenomyosis, or another condition, is gaining light in the public eye and more women are looking for alternatives to Western treatment options.

Endometriosis and adenomyosis in particular are often considered complex diseases, but ones we can work with effectively through the lens of Chinese medicine with the right tools in our tool kit.  In this seminar we discuss Tung’s acupuncture for management of pelvic pain conditions in a way that is logical and succinct. Practitioners will leave the day with a selection of Tung's points that they can begin applying immediately in their clinical practice.  We also discuss the broader implications of these points, outside of the realm of pelvic pain.
