About August: Khristian Mizzi & Fergus Maximus, with Zac Eden (support)
Khristian Mizzi
With a warm, lilting voice and an art for weaving beauty and truth into the words of each song, Khristian Mizzi reaches the hearts of his audiences. His performances have been described as being 'heart opening' and 'captivating' leaving listeners feeling lighter and more serene than when they came in.
Poetic lyrics, meandering melodies and a voice 'like a big warm hug' along with a unique picking style, Khristian really is a complete artist and is becoming renowned for his intimate performances and thoughtful songs.
In 2009 Khristian released his first EP (The Road Between) and has since become a mainstay of the Melbourne music scene.
His 2017 self-titled EP was recorded with award winning producer Kalju Tonuma and guitarist Megan Bernard (MEJU).
In recent times, Khristian has expanded his reach and built upon his already dedicated, local audiences through being awarded The 'Troubadour Artist' of the Year (2017) at The Newstead Live Folk Festival.
Recently performing in Regional Concert Halls, House concerts and Music Festivals to capacity audiences around the country, his songs have had an overwhelming public response which continues to grow. Khristian Mizzi is fast becoming a favourite amongst Folk Music fans throughout Australia.
Fergus Maximus
Adelaide-based ‘singer/storyteller’ Fergus Maximus has a captivating voice and a warm, amiable stage-persona honed over decades of performance. The singer/saxophonist has emerged as an engaging storyteller whose melodic pop/rock songs encompass all the important things—love, loss, mistakes, surprises and people’s astonishing capacity to miscommunicate—with wit, intelligence and fun.
Ably supported (read 'carried') by his most excellent bandmates, Kym Perry (guitars) and Jamie Harrison (basses), Ferg sings, plays sax and performs random acts of percussion. However, after 20 years as a frontman, the award-winning songwriter began exploring solo performance in late 2013, and now sometimes uses guitar, live loops and his sax to bring his songs and stories to life.
With two live EPs under his belt, Fergus Maximus is finally releasing his long-awaited debut studio album 'Restless Soles' in July 2018. Recorded at Wizard Tone Studios and featuring an array of incredible Adelaide musicians, 'Restless Soles' is a collection of melodic stories about people with itchy feet; about love, loss and memory and the things we hold on to.
Zac Eden (support artist)
Adelaide Indie folk artist Zac Eden is a sharply attired and charismatic Neo-Hippie songwriter. Eden’s songwriting communicates the freedom he felt as a child, reminding us that we should all embrace the natural aspect of ourselves. Since the release of Zac Eden's debut EP late 2017 he has performed alongside award winning American Artist Sonia, and hushed a few hundred strong crowd at the Governor Hindmarsh.
2018 will see him completing an eastern tour and a full length album to be expected mid 2019.
