About Hana and Jessie-Lee’s Bad Habits – Album Launch / Katankin (support)

Hana and Jessie-Lee’s Bad Habits

Sewing twang, lyrical wit and late-night musings into a captivating country-soul heart, Hana and Jessie-Lee’s Bad Habits craft sauntering, hook-laden tapestries drenched in rock-and-roll swagger.

Hana Brenecki’s searing, sophisticated and effortlessly dexterous vocals pierce the core of songs rich in the very reasons why country-soul music is so darn affecting in the first place. What’s more, you heard it here first: no-one plays guitar quite like Jessie-Lee Zubkevych.

The band have recently appeared live onstage at Tamworth Country Music Festival, WOMADelaide, Out On The Weekend, Brunswick Music Festival, Adelaide Guitar Festival, Dashville Skyline, and Queenscliff Music Festival.

In May 2024 they are set to release their second album 'Say What You Mean' followed by a national tour across TAS, VIC, SA, and NSW.

The long and short of it? Hana and Jessie-Lee’s Bad Habits are one for the ages. You’d better be in front of that stage.

Katankin

“Would you give a stranger the time of day, for something old said in a new way?”

Melbourne folk singer-songwriter Katankin’s recent single “In a new way”, the first off her upcoming debut album, humbly asks this question, in an infectious, upbeat and joyful celebration of finding one’s own voice.

Born of Russian and Romanian migrant parents, and with a difficult, often harrowing family history, Katankin’s music is nevertheless an ode and testament to love, faith, and ultimately, hope. With her achingly pure and expressive voice, and poetic writing rich with imagery, she unflinchingly plumbs the darkest depths of the human condition – wading through despair, loathing, fear, rage, and revenge, and then soaring to its greatest, sun-drenched heights.

Although a newcomer on the Australian folk scene, Katankin has already begun making her mark, with her 2022 self-produced debut EP "The quiet shimmer of the world" garnering a Music Victoria nomination for Best Folk Work last year, alongside several well-established acts.  She is currently working on her debut album, slated for release later this year.
