About The Shearers Shindig 2024 | Quick Shear Nominations
CALLING ALL SHEARERS! The Shearers Shindig is looking for the best shearers in the country to showcase their skills in the Shearers Shindig Quick Shear Competition on the 25 May 2024 at the Thargomindah Sports Grounds.
There is over $30,000 in Prize Money to win thanks to our incredible sponsors, so get your handpiece oiled, get keen and see if you’ll be crowned the next winner of the Shearers Shindig Quick Shear Competition!
Nomination fee includes 1x Shearers Shindig Singlet. Nominations are restricted to one category per shearer. If you nominate for more than one category the committee reserves the right to choose your category and refund your nominations for the remaining categories.
Please ensure all competitors are at the event by 12 Noon Saturday 25 May 2024.
Companions with the shearers will be required to purchase a general admission ticket to the event.
Thargomindah offers some fantastic accommodation options such as the Oasis Motel, Bulloo River Hotel and the Bulloo Riverside free campground on the eastern side of town. The Explorers Caravan Park offers a variety of accommodation options that all provide access to the kitchen and amenities block. As competitors, you can also roll a swag out in the parking area for the Shearers Shindig – please note amenities of the Sports Ground will not be available overnight.
Bulloo Shire Council is proud to host The Shearers Shindig on the 24 & 25 May 2024 right here in Thargomindah! Hosted on the Thargomindah Sports Grounds, this family friendly event showcases the wit, humour and work ethic of the shearers that built our region through a variety of classic Aussie entertainment.
Come and have a yarn with local legends and learn about how Thargomindah was built on a sheep’s back. Sit back and enjoy informative chats about the regional area and expand your knowledge on bees at the apiarist info chat. Participate in the Colour Fun Run and prepare for an evening of music and entertainment with our headliner, Mick Lindsay, artist Adam Kilpatrick, and a high impact pyrotechnics show by Flux Entertainment.
Come on down and place your bets on the Thargo Cup hosted by Noah’s Pig Races where all the action is!
All of this fun leads up to the main event ‘The Shearers Shindig - Quick Shear Competition’! This event showcases the wool industry which put us on the map and celebrates the talent of our local, national and international shearers.
The Shearers Shindig boasts two fun filled days of markets, the Colour Run, food vendors and bar, live music, marvellous entertainment and of course some of the best shearers in the country competing to be the Quick Shear Competition winner!
