About A New Belonging
This intriguing exhibition is presented by Creativity Cluster and Friends at the Reimaginarium, Australia’s home for the best products made from reclaimed materials. Creativity Cluster and Friends is a group of artists, designers and makers from Geelong and the greater Melbourne area who work with repurposed and upcycled materials.
At this exhibition, you'll discover how artworks and artisan products are created using second-hand or repurposed objects and converted into new forms with a new belonging.
Highlights include:
- Meet the curator Nancy Lane and learn more about why artists and designers have used discarded, repurposed and second-hand objects in their work across several mediums.
- Join Rachel Burke from Patturn Studio as she takes you through a DIY lampshade makeover including tips for how simple and cheap it is to create new heirlooms out of vintage materials such as maps, sheet music, sewing patterns and more.
- Workshop $25pp: Construct a miniature cityscape on a colourful tile using found objects. Host NancyDee will show you how to create an imaginative, one-of-a-kind design. Bring along objects you’ve found or select from nuts, bolts, screws, bobby pins and other metal NancyDee has collected to help Clean Up Australia. All materials supplied.
