About Workshop: Gathering Ground: Shimmer — Kelly Lee Hickey
I wake most days to the sound of Arlpatye (Australian Ringnecks) in my backyard. Some mornings they throw dates from the neighbours’ palms at my fence, other days they hop between trees, chatting and calling to kin. As the climate changes, and country with it, I wonder what the future of the arid lands holds for different creatures? How will we live together as everything changes? Gathering Ground walkshops blend practical philosophy with generative writing. With Deborah Bird Rose’s essay ‘Shimmer’ as our guide, participants will walk and write their way through questions of connection and responsibility in a climate changed world.
